Meditation Is Not a Requirement for Spiritual Connection

May 19, 2026

Somewhere along the way, people started treating meditation like the spiritual equivalent of passing a driving test.

“If you can sit still long enough, then you’re spiritual.”
“If your mind is quiet enough, then you’re intuitive.”
“If you meditate every day, THEN Spirit will connect with you.”

And let's be for real here please?
I think that belief has discouraged a lot of beautiful souls from trusting their natural connection.

Because here’s the truth nobody talks about enough:

Meditation is a tool.
Not a requirement.

It can absolutely help people settle their nervous systems, quiet the noise of daily life, and become more aware of their inner world. I teach meditation. I use meditation. I value meditation.

But I also know this:

Not everybody connects the same way.

Some people connect through silence.
Others connect through movement.
Some through creativity.
Some through nature.
Some through grief.
Some through music.
Some while washing dishes.
Some while driving.
Some while laughing so hard they snort coffee out their nose.  This is fact!

Spirit is not picky the way humans are picky.

Spirit is connection.
Humans are the ones trying to organize it into neat little boxes.

I’ve said for years that I’m like a light switch with Spirit.
I’m on, I’m off.
At Spirit and I’s collective will.

That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate meditation. It means I understand that my connection does not rely solely on my ability to become perfectly still.

And again!  Let’s be real for a second: some people struggle deeply with stillness.

Anxiety. ADHD. Trauma. Stress. Exhaustion. Overthinking. Busy lives. Parenting. Work. Grief.

There are a thousand reasons why sitting silently for long periods may feel difficult or even emotionally overwhelming for someone.

That does not mean they are disconnected spiritually.

Truthfully, I think stillness is often more for the human self than the higher self.

The human self wants reassurance.
It wants calm.
It wants quiet.
It wants certainty.

The higher self already understands connection.

Your soul does not suddenly disappear because your brain had twenty thoughts during meditation.

And I think this is important because I’ve watched too many people decide they “aren’t spiritual enough” simply because traditional meditation doesn’t work for them.

Babies, please hear me clearly:

You do not fail spiritually because your connection looks different.

Some of the strongest intuitive people I know cannot sit through a traditional meditation without wanting to crawl out of their skin. Me included!

But give them music?
A walk in nature?
A journal?
A sound bath?
A meaningful conversation?
A moment of deep emotion?

Boom. Connection.

That’s why I encourage people to stop forcing themselves into spiritual practices that make them feel broken.

Find the practices that help YOU feel open.
Find the spaces where YOU naturally soften.
Find the moments where Spirit feels easy instead of performative.

Because spirituality was never meant to become another thing humans use to judge themselves.

And honestly? If you trust the process long enough… eventually you become the light switch.

Not because you mastered perfect stillness.
But because you learned to trust your natural connection.

And that changes everything.
