The Three Stages of the Authenticity Journey
Oct 05, 2026
Have you ever caught yourself wondering, "How did I end up here?"
It's not because life is terrible or everything is falling apart. It just feels like something doesn't fit anymore.
I've worked with thousands of people over the years, and I've noticed something sooooo interesting. Whether someone comes to me for a mediumship reading, intuitive development, or empowerment coaching, the conversation almost always finds its way back to one thing:
They're trying to come home to themselves. Remembering who they are. Not were. Not will be.
The problem is, many people think authenticity is something you're either born with or not. They believe that being authentic means saying whatever you think, wearing whatever you want, or simply refusing to care what anyone else thinks.
That's only a small piece of the picture.
Authenticity is much deeper than that.
It's a process of peeling back the layers you've collected over a lifetime until you can clearly recognize yourself again.
And from what I've seen, almost everyone moves through three distinct stages on that journey.
Stage One: Living the Life You Think You're Supposed to Live
This stage usually begins without us even realizing it.
As children, we learn what earns love, acceptance, praise, and belonging. We absorb beliefs from family, school, culture, religion, social media, and life experiences. None of that is inherently bad. It's simply how we learn to navigate the world.
The challenge comes when those borrowed beliefs become the blueprint for our entire life.
You choose careers because they're expected.
You stay in relationships because they're comfortable.
You keep saying yes because saying no feels selfish.
You make decisions based on what everyone else will think before asking yourself what actually feels right.
From the outside, life may look successful.
Inside, though, there's often a quiet feeling that something is missing.
Not because you're failing. Remember, as my tattoo says! Never a failure, always a lesson.
It's because you've slowly drifted away from your own inner knowing.
A big sign you're in this stage is constantly looking outside yourself for permission before making decisions. Validation or direction from others. Ugh. It's a thing. And I'm not talking about getting a second opinion....
Stage Two: The Uncomfortable Unraveling
If Stage One is about following the script, Stage Two is where you start questioning who wrote it.
This is where things can feel messy.
You begin noticing patterns that no longer serve you.
You realize you've been shrinking yourself in certain situations. .
You start recognizing relationships that leave you feeling drained instead of supported.
The life that once felt comfortable suddenly feels too small.
This is also the stage where many people panic.
They think they're lost.
They're not.
They're becoming aware.
Awareness can feel uncomfortable because once you see something, you can't unsee it.
You may find yourself changing friendships.
Setting boundaries for the first time.
Exploring new interests.
Questioning long-held beliefs.
Even your spiritual journey may begin to shift.
That doesn't mean you've abandoned who you are.
It means you're discovering who you've always been underneath everyone else's expectations.
Growth will feel uncertain and unclear sometimes while you're living through it.
The old version of you is falling away before the new version has fully stepped forward.
That space in between can feel uncomfortable, but it's also where some of your greatest transformation happens.
Stage Three: Living From Your Authentic Self
This is where life starts to feel different.
Not because everything suddenly becomes easy.
But because your decisions begin coming from within instead of from outside approval.
You stop asking, "What will everyone think?"
You start asking, "Does this feel right for me?"
You trust your intuition more.
You become more confident in your boundaries.
You stop apologizing for taking up space.
You realize that saying no to something that doesn't align with you is actually saying yes to yourself.
Fear may still show up.
Self-doubt may still visit from time to time.
The difference is they no longer get to drive the bus.
Your authentic self begins making the decisions instead.
And here's something I want you to remember.
Authenticity isn't about becoming someone new.
It's about remembering who you were before life convinced you that you had to be someone else.
Why This Matters Spiritually
Everything I teach comes back to one simple belief:
You are your own greatest guide.
Your intuition becomes clearer when you're living authentically.
Your confidence grows when your actions match your values.
Your relationships become healthier because you're no longer trying to earn love by pretending to be someone you're not.
Even your connection with Spirit becomes stronger because you're showing up honestly instead of through layers of fear, expectation, or people-pleasing.
Spirit isn't asking you to become someone extraordinary.
Spirit is inviting you to become fully yourself.
That is where your real power lives.
A Practical Takeaway
Ask yourself these three questions this week:
- What decision am I making because it genuinely feels right to me?
- Where am I still seeking approval instead of trusting myself?
- What's one small way I can show up more honestly today?
And Lovees, don't worry about changing your whole life overnight.
Authenticity isn't built through one giant leap. If only it were that easy.
It's built through hundreds of small choices that gradually bring you back to yourself. You know I love the baby steps!
Every honest conversation.
Every healthy boundary.
Every time you trust your intuition instead of your fear.
Those moments add up.
Take a Moment
Take five quiet minutes this week and ask yourself:
"Am I living the life I truly want… or the life I learned I was supposed to want?"
Whatever answer comes up, don't judge it. We do not judge here lol! Okay....maybe slightly...once in a very blue moon....
Simply become curious.
The moment you begin asking honest questions is often the moment your authentic journey truly begins! Weeee!
Thank you for spending a little time with me today. I hope this gave you something to reflect on and maybe even permission to trust yourself a little more.
Stay Divine, Lovees, and see you next week!
