What Is an Empowerment Medium?

One of the questions I get asked ALOT is:

"What exactly is an empowerment medium?"

And honestly, it's a fair question because it isn't a title you hear every day.

Most people have heard of psychics and mediums. They understand that a medium connects with Spirit and brings through evidence, messages, guidance, and healing from loved ones who have passed. I've been doing that work professionally for over 25 years, and I still love every opportunity to help someone experience that connection.

But over the years, I've started to notice something and it hit me in the feels for sure!

People weren't just looking for evidence that their loved ones were still with them.

They were looking for confidence.

They were looking for clarity.

They were looking for permission to trust themselves again.

They wanted to know what to do with the information they received.

That's when I realized my work wasn't just about connecting people with Spirit. It was also about helping people reconnect with themselves.   

That's what empowerment mediumship means to me.

It's More Than Receiving a Message

Don't get me wrong. Messages from Spirit can be incredibly healing.

They can bring peace after loss, validate experiences you've questioned, and remind you that love never truly leaves us.

That work matters.

But here's something I've learned after thousands of sessions.

Information by itself doesn't create change.

You can receive the most beautiful message in the world, but if nothing changes once you leave the session, then eventually you'll find yourself facing the same fears, the same patterns, and the same questions all over again.

Real transformation happens when insight becomes action.

That's where empowerment begins.  Yassss!!!

Spirit Can Guide, But You Still Have to Drive the Car

I teach that Spirit isn't here to live your life for you.  That's a fact, friends.  Gotta embrace this part with your whole heart!

They're not here to make every decision.

They're certainly not deciding what colour socks you should wear or whether tonight's dinner should be chicken or fish.

Trust me, they've got bigger things to focus on. LOL.

Spirit offers perspective.

They help us see possibilities we may have overlooked.

They gently remind us of strengths we've forgotten.

Sometimes they shine a light on places within us that are ready to heal.

But they also honour something incredibly important.

Our free will.  And you all know how I love Free Will!  I consider it the gift that keeps on giving.

At the end of the day, you're still the one making the decisions.

You're still the one taking the next step.

You're still the one creating your life.

Empowerment Means Keeping Your Power

This is probably the biggest difference between my work and what some people expect when they book a reading.

One thing that's incredibly important to me is that people don't hand over their power.

I want clients to trust themselves more after working with me, not less.

I don't want someone feeling like they need to book a session every time life throws them a curveball.  That's not it!

I want them to recognize their own wisdom.

Their own intuition.

Their own ability to make empowered choices.

In fact, one of my favourite things to hear from a client isn't, "You were so accurate."

It's hearing them say:

"I trusted myself."

"I finally set that boundary."

"I started the business."

"I had the conversation I'd been avoiding."

"I stopped waiting for permission."

Don't get me wrong. Accuracy matters. Evidence matters.

But if someone leaves believing in themselves a little more than when they walked in, that's the kind of session I strive for.

We Weren't Meant to Sit on the Sidelines

Sometimes, especially in spiritual communities, it's easy to fall into the habit of constantly looking outside ourselves.

We're waiting for another sign.

Another reading.

Another confirmation.

Another message.

Another person to tell us we're on the right path.

Meanwhile, life is standing there waiting for us to participate.  Like "Hey, I see you, do you see me?"  (Goddess I love Tiktok)

Sometimes the next step isn't another reading.

Sometimes it's making the phone call.

Submitting the application.

Starting the business.

Setting the boundary.

Having the conversation.

Taking the first step before you feel completely ready.

Spirit can walk beside you every step of the way.

But they won't walk the path for you.  They work WITH you not for you!

And honestly, they wouldn't want to do it any other way.

Why I Call Myself an Empowerment Medium

So let's get to the juicy gossip about me and my journey as an Evidential Medium turned Empowerment Medium. I choose this title because it reflects what I hope people experience when they leave my space.

Yes, I want them to feel connected to Spirit.

Yes, I want them to experience healing, validation, and evidence.

But more than anything...

I want them to leave feeling connected to themselves.

Because when you trust yourself, everything begins to shift.

Your decisions become clearer.

Your boundaries become healthier.

Your confidence grows.

Your intuition becomes stronger because you're finally listening to it.

That's empowerment.

And that's the heart of the work I do.  And it is MY lived experience to share.  Spirit guided and I listened and here we are.

Take a Moment

Before you move on with your day, spend a few minutes reflecting on these questions:

• Where in my life am I waiting for someone else to give me the answers?
• What decision have I already known the answer to, but haven't trusted myself enough to act on?
• If I trusted myself just 10% more this week, what would I do differently?

Empowerment isn't about having all the answers.

It's about trusting yourself enough to take the next step.
