Why We Choose to Sit in Toxic Energy (Yep, CHOOSE)... and How Owning That Truth Can Set You Free

Why We Choose to Sit in Toxic Energy

Hey Friends,

Let’s have a real moment. Like, drop-the-curtain, no-spiritual-fluff moment. Why do we—especially the healers, the empaths, the “I feel everything all the time” crew—keep sitting in toxic energy like it’s a damn recliner with our name stitched into it?

For real.

We know it doesn’t feel good. We know it keeps us small, stuck, and spinning our wheels. And yet... we stay. We rationalize. We excuse. We even decorate the damn toxicity like, “Oooh, maybe if I hang this positive affirmation above it, it’ll hurt less.”

Spoiler alert: It won’t.

Now hear me out, I’m not throwing shade. I’ve been there. I lived there. I paid rent in toxic patterns and even hosted gatherings there. But what I’ve learned—and what Spirit is not-so-subtly pushing me to share—is this:

We don’t stay in toxicity because we like it.
We stay because it’s familiar.

It’s what we know.
It’s where we’ve made ourselves feel useful, needed, even validated.
It’s the place where our unhealed wounds and our survival strategies high-five each other and go, “Let’s just stay here. It's predictable.”

But predictable doesn’t equal peaceful.
Familiar doesn’t equal aligned.
And that tightness in your chest? That constant second-guessing of yourself? That ain’t intuition, Boo—that’s your spirit suffocating under the weight of what you’ve been tolerating.

So why do we stay?

Because growth is scary.
Because choosing better means acknowledging that we’ve been choosing worse.
Because when we decide to no longer co-sign bullshit—ours or anyone else's—we have to change.

And change? That requires grief. Letting go. Being uncomfortable.
AND, my love, it requires honesty.

When we finally say out loud, “Yeah, I’ve been sitting in some toxic soup and calling it a bubble bath,” we reclaim our power.
And damn, that’s a moment. That’s the soul-snap. That’s the energetic mic drop.

We don’t need to punish ourselves for what we accepted. We need to bless ourselves for choosing differently now.

Am I resonating with you Boo?

Here’s the hard truth that brings freedom:

Toxic energy isn’t always some big dramatic villain. Sometimes it’s the whisper that says,
“You can’t leave.”
“You’ll be alone.”
“You’ll fail.”
“You don’t deserve better.”

But when you recognize the whisper as a lie, something powerful happens.

You stop sitting in it.

You stand up.

You choose different.

And every time you choose different—even a little—it rewires your vibration, strengthens your boundaries, and calls your soul home.

Your challenge today, Lovee?

Ask yourself this:
“Where am I choosing to stay small because I’m afraid of what big might require of me?”

And then sit with that.
Light a candle. Journal it out. Call your guides. Call your power back.
Remind yourself that you don’t have to keep sipping from a cup that poisons you just because you poured it yourself.

You are not here to suffer. You are here to rise.

Toxic energy may have been a chapter, but it ain't your whole damn book.

Choose again.
Choose higher.
Choose YOU.

With fierce love and zero sugar-coating,
💖 Tara Diana
